A What-If Poll
One thing I fear if Mr McCain wins as compared to a possible victory in by Mr Obama. If Mr McCain wins, I think the left will go absolutely insane. If Mr Obama wins on the other hand, my impression is that conservatives (such as myself) will just hunker down for 4 years of bad policy, increased racial tensions, higher taxes, and other similear consequences of electing an inexperienced academic to the the Presidency. But … if you thought the left and their BDS was a problem for national discourse on Mr Bush’s re-election I fear such anger will increase far more if Mr McCain wins this election.
So, to that point, I’ll take a comment survey. If the “other guy” wins, what would be your dominant emotional response.
For the record, I think mine would be, the “oh, crap” sensation when standing near or in striking range of a tottering shelf or pile.

If it appears that electoral fraud was afoot, I’d likely be marching in the streets. Whether or not that fraud was for McCain or Obama. Election-stealing is wrong and dangerous.
Otherwise, if McCain wins legitimately, I’d be glad that we will (likely) have a Democrat-controlled Congress. I’d be glad that Bush is out of the office. I think that, for all my concerns about McCain, that he’s a better man and leader than Bush ever was.
I’d be glad that I DO think McCain is a man of honor a good bit of the time. I think this election process has brought out the worst in him (McCain) and would pray that he’d settle back into a more mainstream decency that I believe he has.
IF he proceeded to demonstrate that I was wrong about his decency and he starts trying to lead the way Bush led, I’ll be pushing for Congress to make him a lame duck President from the first day that he starts such behavior.
And I’d pray for him, as I’ve prayed for Bush, as I’ll pray for Obama.
And, finally, I’d definitely be angry and suspicious, given the polls. Still, I’d give him the chance to prove himself to be a better president than he has been a candidate.
I would be quite surprised if Sen. McCain won, but then stranger things have happened. Either way, I take to heart the words of the Mother of God:
He has shown the strength of His arm, *
He has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, *
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and the rich He has sent away empty.
May her inspired words come to pass.
Oh crap is the mild version of my feeling if ‘the other guy’ wins.
We have one son in the military and another who will join after college graduation in another year or so and ‘the other guy’ scares us enough to lose sleep over. He has too little experience, and too many questionable relationships, for us to be comfortable entrusting him with our precious children.
We will do what we have always done and ask God’s protection over our boys and their fellow warriors, with an extra dose of care for a President that they & we don’t trust.
