Millard Fuller Firing
In light of Jim's earlier post on the firing of Habitat for Humanity's founder and president, Millard Fuller, it's often hard to tell fact from fiction. Nonetheless, this Washington Post article doesn't bode well for the philanthropist. How does one man rack up so many apparently corroborated claims of sexual harassment?
Jim, you mentioned a possible future Christianity Today article on the subject. What's the scoop?

My update will be on page 24 of the next edition of Christianity Today.
The board could not substantiate the sexual harassment charges, which I think is important to state. Millard Fuller is a good man with a long history of faithful service.
But the board remained troubled by the incident and tired of conflict with the strong-willed founder. The split was inevitable.
The enduring question is whether Habitat will go the way of other humanitarian groups that stray so far from spiritual roots that they are Christian in name only.

I am shocked that anyone could "fire" Millard Fuller from hiw own organization. Why didn't they all leave and form their own organization? I don't see how they could take over something that was started so long ago by the Fullers. We have heard that there was some questionable behavior on his part, but that doesn't mean that it was true, and even if it was true, it is not Christian to "throw stones". It is Christian to forgive. None of us are perfect. I will no longer contribute to Habitat because I cannot go along with the current CEO and board members doing what they did to Mr. Fuller. It is not right, in my opinion. I would like to be able to contact the Fullers and let them know of my support. I have heard that they have started another organization - I hope that this is true and that their work will again be productive and blessed.

The Fullers have indeed started a new organization - The Fuller Center for Housing. You can read about their continuing ministry to provide decent and affordable housing for people around the world at www.fullercenter.org
