Reformation of the ELCA?

Pastor Mark Daniels posts on a movement within the ELCA aimed at reforming that body (read, calling it back to being Christ's Church and not the Church of the Holy Social Left Wing Movement du Jour). The article he reproduces is interesting, but it would also be nice to hear the good Pastor's thoughts on this subject--after all, he has a greater than normal interest in this.

(Is it a sin to goad a pastor?)

Mark: I don't think you're goading me and I do requests. Hugh Hewitt asked me to write a piece on then-Cardinal Ratzinger's discussion of the "dictatorship of relativism" and I did so.

In fact, I have written on the subject of the authority of Scripture and the ELCA before and will no doubt do so again.

Suffice it to say for now that the recommendation of our ELCA Church Council is, as far as I can see, utterly inconsistent with the teachings of Scripture. What is especially bothersome about this recommendation is that it won with a vote of 32 to 2. Please pray for the ELCA.

By the way, there are two organizations working to reform the ELCA, both of which have web sites worth checking out: WordAlone and Solid Rock Lutherans.

Thanks, Mark, for the interest, the encouragement, and the link!

Blessings in Christ,
Mark

There is also a movement to merge the ELCA and the United Methodist Church. As a conservative Methodidist, I find this disturbing. We have enough Lefty problems as it is.
