Taking the Lord's Name in Vain
It seems to me that this concoction is nothing short of blasphemy, not because of its elevation of women, but because of its total perversion of the biblical text without any basis in the historic documents, and because it's a violation of the 4th commandment: "Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God" (Holman CSB).

Well, that's a fine opening statement for a policy proposal. Were you planning to offer a policy proposal? Or were you just planning to kvetch about all the damned blasphemers?

I read about that... I noticed the name "Judith" and had to laugh, though. Still, the whole concept is horrible.

If the Bible is the word of God, and I believe it is (or why bother to stake your eternal destiny on what it says?), this is as blasphemous as it gets.
You can't change things just so it will appeal to you more. Historical fact is historical fact. And Jesus WAS a male!
Shall we rewrite history with Napolean (or Bill Clinton, or whoever) as a female so that it will be easier for us women to identify with them? Preposterous!

It is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the authors of this revision do not believe in a historical Jesus. Instead, they regard Jesus as simply the central figure of a Christian myth that is no more than a pious fraud. Given this belief, Jesus then becomes a perfectly legitimate target for various revisions that accomodate the moral fashions of the age.
I believe that the lesson here is that we must accept the historicity of Christ and His disciples -- and His teachings -- or we will lose our moral bearings.

Okay... so nobody wants to do anything about the damned blasphemers but kvetch pointlessly into the æther about them.
Gosh. That is ever so helpful, isn't it?

s9, what's your point?
Are you suggesting that those of us who think the idea is hairbrained must have an ACTION in mind in response to the idea? It's not enough for us to think it's a bad idea, we also have to do something about it? Are we not allowed to discuss ideas without making policy?
