The One True Church? Guess Who the Pope Chooses.
To build on Doug’s Pope post below: I’m a generally an evangelical enthusiast of the Vatican, which since the reign of John Paul II has been a bulwark against cultural, moral, and theological freefall, and a friend of conservative Christians of all stripes. I really can’t envision JP issuing the document released by Benedict yesterday, reaffirming that the Roman Catholic Church is the One True Church. I really had no thought that the head of the Catholic Church would be mixed on this question, but no one seems sure why the edict was released, and why now. I’m having lunch tomorrow with a friend and business associate who has spent he career with the U.S. Catholic Bishops office. I can’t wait to chide him about eating with this apostate. And the bit about other Christian groups not having the “means of salvation.” That’s the One True Jesus, the last time I checked. Honestly, the other Christian denominations aren’t the enemy of the Catholic church or of Christianity. How about saving the stronger words for radical Islam and surging secularism?

I think all things are coming together for our Lord's timing, not ours, and not all is clear as to how. Nations are lining up against Israel as prophesized, yet there will be wars and rumors of wars before the great tribulation. Only at that time will there be a great peace treaty for Israel and not until a little after the tribulation begins.
For the life of me I can't understand how people miss this. Nor other extremely obvious warnings in God's word such as the woman sitting on seven hills is destroyed.
I am not trying to cause waves here, I realize you hear this controversey constantly, yet this announcement certainly can begin a one world church as prophesized and we know who's that church really is, or this could be the beginning of a dominoe affect on the Catholic Church with great destruction. I believe the destruction will be at the same time the anti-christ will come to full power.
To say that the Catholic Church is the one true church, to say that some of the followers of Christ immediately after the apostles went in the wrong direction, and to say that the Catholic Church was the first Christian church is all unbiblical and scary to be truthful.
I am so glad that I realize the kingdom is of the Lord which is established after he gathers those who answered his calling, glad that I know that God personally offers salvation for the everlasting and fellowship with Him through Jesus and not a man or woman, and that once confessing with our mouths to God that Jesus is His son without works then we are filled with the Holy Spirit for guidance.
There is only one reason I write you and that is because I am moved and that is the only time I will move in life-when it's a moving urged by the spirit-and no, I don't believe in tongues or any other supernatural happening in this time, only to happen during the tribulation.
I mourn for those caught up in knowledge and don't realize that was the sin of the Jews to the point of adding to the only basic requirement God asked of faith, then obey His commandments. We only have one mediator between God and us and that is Jesus and it's stated in the bible so clearly.
I fear for many people on this earth becasue soon they will discover that knowledge did not save them. I fear because man's heart has waxed cold and refuses to look past tradition to seek our Lord, Jesus. Jesus can be in our heart, not the kingdom yet, and the new world order is pushing all manifestations of anything but.
I hope you are not offended, yet, whenever I can give some simple basic truths for others then I will just so they can avoid deception.
I have been with the Lord since the age of 15(a little over 50 yrs. old now), and I have been through this world with nothing else with tremendous testimonial results. You wouldn't believe how God really works one on one. I have peace, understanding, and joy where other's don't and most are amazed when witnessing the trials and on the other hand the attitudes I have that work-only built up in the Lord by personal fellowship with God through Jesus all these years.
I am not Catholic, nor will I ever be anything else but one of God's children. There is not one thing that says you have to belong to a church to be saved for everlasting or enable you to have fellowship with God. Matter of fact that would put anything before the Lord's work making it null and void.
You have a good day and I will too. I am up extraordinarily late, maybe for just this.
Thank you for your time, and thank you for making a point that makes sense. I believe you are intelligent and possibly endeavor the freedom God gives you in Christ Jesus.

Pope says to all non catholics 'You are not a proper church'!
How insulting, how offensive, how arrogant can you get!
To think most non Catholics like myself have spent years offering the hand of friendship, and praising Catholics (especially the previous Pope) for their strong stand on moral issues, and this is how the Pope decides to respond to this love and friendship. How very sad!
I had my doubts about this Pope when he decided to take the Catholic Church back to the dark ages by stating that all Catholic churches world-wide should return to holding their services in Latin, thus keeping the church and priest in total control and the congregation in the dark. In my personal experience, Catholics friends I know, already have no first hand knowledge of the scriptures or very little as they have received their faith second hand via their priest or church. I suggest they start seeking their faith first hand perhaps by reading the whole of John's Gospel for starters, maybe realise for the first time they can have a direct personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All the language barriers, rituals, saints, mysticism, smokescreens and intermediaries are completely unnecessary. But hey there is a 'health warning' if you try this direct approach by reading your bible for yourself in English instead of trying to understand the dead language of Latin, it might mean you will be in control of your faith and not the Catholic church.
Heaven forbid! You might then realise the Catholic Church and the Pope doesn't have a monopoly on the truth, but for that matter neither does any other religious leader, or Protestant church who also claims to have a monopoly on the truth.
What happened to humility amongst Catholic and Non-Catholic religious leaders? It seems to be the most rarest of commodities amongst all religious groups in these difficult times. If only the different religious leaders could look for what unites us rather than what divides us, maybe they would set a better example to us all and the world would be a more peaceful and loving place to live.
