{"id":130,"date":"2008-02-06T09:45:29","date_gmt":"2008-02-06T14:45:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=130"},"modified":"2008-02-06T09:47:31","modified_gmt":"2008-02-06T14:47:31","slug":"super-tuesday-spinning-huck-dobsons-conscience-and-obamas-oratory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=130","title":{"rendered":"Super Tuesday: Spinning Huck; Dobson&#8217;s Conscience; and Obama&#8217;s Oratory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><font face=\"Calibri\">A Vote for Huckabee is . . .<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\">I know all about spin.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019ve been in public relations work for some 30 years, and I know spin when I hear or see it.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>But in the last few weeks, the conservative talkers and others have projected Huck first as the liberal threat\u2014with McCain\u2014to the future of conservatives, the Republican Party, and the republic itself; and then as the strong conservative threat to the candidacy of Mitt Romney\u2014siphoning conservative, mostly southern votes, from Mitt.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Spin can work, but it\u2019s risky to spin the same guy two different directions in the same election cycle.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Huckabee is his own unique blend of faith-driven conservative populism.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>He had a good night, probably his last, and he represented evangelicals well.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Today, I hope McCain selects him to be his vice president\u2014but there is a lot of time to ponder that.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><strong><font face=\"Calibri\">The Conscience of James Dobson<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\">I continue to be disappointed in the political pouting of James Dobson, who issued a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.citizenlink.org\/CLtopstories\/A000006444.cfm\">statement<\/a> <\/font><font face=\"Calibri\">yesterday saying he will never vote for John McCain \u201cas a matter of conscience.\u201d<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Dobson is free to have his political opinions, of course, and McCain may not be his favorite, but to provide a spiritual flavor to his dis-endorsement by citing conscience is a misuse of his position as a Christian leader.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>It is an embarrassment to evangelical Christians involved in the political process.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><strong><font face=\"Calibri\">Obama for Orator-in-Chief<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Calibri\">Obama has been rated as the most liberal Senator in Washington, D.C., and he is the strongest peacenik to have a fair shot at the presidency since George McGovern, so I would never be able to support him\u2014because of his political philosophy.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>But I love to hear him speak; there is nothing like great political oratory, and Obama is the best of our time.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>His speech last night was masterful.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Vote for Huckabee is . . .
