{"id":1552,"date":"2009-03-10T07:46:27","date_gmt":"2009-03-10T11:46:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=1552"},"modified":"2009-03-10T07:46:27","modified_gmt":"2009-03-10T11:46:27","slug":"confronting-gores-incomplete-life-ethic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=1552","title":{"rendered":"Confronting Gore&#8217;s Incomplete Life Ethic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My friend John Murdoch, a conservative writer who is also concerned about\u00a0climate change, \u00a0has written <a href=\"http:\/\/www.relevantmagazine.com\/features-reviews\/life\/16191-the-gospel-according-to-al-gore\">a perceptive critique of his interchange with Al Gore at a Climate Project training<\/a>.\u00a0 As I have written, the development of a total life ethic, recognizing the threats to life of both\u00a0abortion and environmental degradation, is elevating to our Christian witness and could effectively batttle both offenses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>John confronted Gore about the disconnection of the these life issues.\u00a0 He writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Face to face with Al Gore, the meaning of life was on my mind as well. I raised the credibility gap created by invoking the plight of future generations to advocate global warming legislation while elsewhere lauding Roe v. Wade which blocks protections for the unborn of today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gore stated that abortion \u201cis best dealt with in a way that leaves the principle responsibility to those most affected by it.\u201d (The developing child was notably absent from his \u201cmost affected\u201d list.) Stressing that disagreement \u201cdoesn\u2019t keep [him] from seeking common ground,\u201d Gore closed by expressing hope that many would be willing to \u201cjoin together to address global warming, a common threat to born and unborn.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gore\u2019s batting one for two.
