{"id":1682,"date":"2009-04-16T11:58:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-16T15:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=1682"},"modified":"2009-04-16T11:58:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-16T15:58:00","slug":"the-tax-day-tea-parties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=1682","title":{"rendered":"The Tax Day Tea Parties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While there have been recent scattered protests (dubbed &quot;Tea Parties&quot; after a rather famous one in Boston one 235 years ago) against huge government expansion, economic control, bailouts, borrowing and spending, the day of the individual tax deadline, April 15th, was a day of concerted protests.&#160; The <a href=\"http:\/\/taxdayteaparty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">&quot;Tax Day Tea Party&quot;<\/a> was an event held at over <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps\/ms?ie=UTF8&amp;hl=en&amp;msa=0&amp;msid=112875499027114938790.0004647d9f61bab744fd4&amp;ll=38.272689\" target=\"_blank\">500 locations<\/a> all across the United States. <\/p>\n<p>In case you&#8217;re still wondering what all the fuss was about, a budget deficit graph may help.&#160; (Click on the image for the source.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.heritage.org\/2009\/03\/24\/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Budget deficits\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto\" height=\"330\" alt=\"Budget deficits\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.heritage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/wapoobamabudget1.jpg\" width=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yes, we&#8217;ve had budget deficits in the past.&#160; These and the ones to come are in a class all by themselves.&#160; Hence the outrage from <a href=\"http:\/\/taxdayteaparty.com\/2009\/04\/reports-from-our-readers-and-commenters\/\" target=\"_blank\">all over the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freep.com\/article\/20090415\/NEWS15\/90415036\/Tea+Party+protest+movement+heats+up+in+Lansing\" target=\"_blank\">Michigan<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenvilleonline.com\/article\/20090415\/NEWS01\/90415020\/1004\" target=\"_blank\">South Carolina<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/michellemalkin.com\/2009\/04\/15\/california-tea-party-to-california-gop-smackdown\/\" target=\"_blank\">California<\/a> (where the state GOP chair got boos) to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.10tv.com\/live\/content\/local\/stories\/2009\/04\/15\/story_protest.html?sid=102\" target=\"_blank\">Ohio<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox41.com\/global\/category.asp?c=163829&amp;clipId=&amp;topVideoCatNo=155153&amp;topVideoCatNoB=162008&amp;autoStart=true&amp;clipId=3655536\" target=\"_blank\">Kentucky<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajc.com\/services\/content\/printedition\/2009\/04\/16\/teaparty0416.html\" target=\"_blank\">Atlanta<\/a> (the largest crowd in the nation, as far as I know, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.11alive.com\/rss\/rss_story.aspx?storyid=129095\" target=\"_blank\">over 15,000<\/a>).&#160; This was no localized phenomenon.&#160; This was a national movement.<\/p>\n<p>More below the fold&#8230;<\/p>\n<p> <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtontimes.com\/news\/2009\/apr\/16\/right-wing-extremism-alarm\/\" target=\"_blank\">a report from the Dept. of Homeland Security<\/a> was released very recently discussing the dangers of &quot;right-wing extremists&quot;, for which the definition was rather broad.&#160; (If you oppose abortion or illegal immigration, or if you value states&#8217; rights, you&#8217;re a potential threat.)&#160; The repot itself said that no specific threats are known, but you know those right-wing extremists.&#160; Gotta&#8217; watch &#8217;em like a hawk.&#160; Warner Todd Hudson had this to say:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Alright all you right-wing thugs out there, now that tax day is over, Obama and his pals are saying you are dangerous and that your tax protests are an act of revolution. It is amusing that they\u2019ve never said that with the many riots past and present spread by left-wingers in the US \u2014 after all little \u201cright-wing\u201d violence has ever been seen here \u2014 but there you have it. It\u2019s all YOU. Not the Animal Rights activists that constantly engage in assault, not the rock throwers of anti-WTO protests, not ACORN and union thugs, and not the Envro Nazis that have engaged in actual terrorism all across the country. YOU are the threat we\u2019ve been waiting for.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s right, you tea partiers; now we have your pictures!&#160; (Apparently, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/dia0420\/2009\/04\/16\/profiling\/\" target=\"_blank\">profiling is back in vogue<\/a>.&#160; What a difference an administration makes!)<\/p>\n<p>And this CNN reporter, as well as the person in the studio who she returned to, seemed to have an agenda to pigeonhole the protestors rather than report the facts.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/6G3fvNhdoc0&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/6G3fvNhdoc0&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Apparently, we&#8217;re not grateful enough for our government largesse.&#160; Thanks for pointing that out.&#160; <a href=\"http:\/\/directorblue.blogspot.com\/2009\/04\/tea-parties-code-pink-and-sickness-of.html\" target=\"_blank\">Doug Ross notes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>CNN says Fox is a &quot;rightwing conservative network?&quot;<\/p>\n<p>How &quot;rightwing&quot; could Fox be if it <a href=\"http:\/\/tvbythenumbers.com\/2009\/04\/10\/cable-news-ratings-for-thursday-april-9\/16518#more-16518\">gets more viewers<\/a> than CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and Headline News &#8212; combined?<\/p>\n<p>Based on those numbers, who are the centrists and who are the extremists?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also points out the MIA MSM for the tea parties vs. the Code Pink \/ Cindy Sheehan coverage from Crawford, TX even though the size of the protest crowd was many orders of magnitude smaller.&#160; Oh, <em>that<\/em> liberal media.<\/p>\n<p>Jeff Emanuel, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/jeff_emanuel\/2009\/04\/15\/objective-cnn-reporter-to-chicago-tea-party-attendee-why-are-you-complaining-dont-you-know-obama-gave-your-state-billions-in-the-stimulus\/\" target=\"_blank\">posting at RedState<\/a> and commenting on this video, wraps it all up.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>These people simply don\u2019t get the fact that these modern-day tea parties aren\u2019t simply about taxes.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re about increased taxes and even more greatly increased debt, yes. But they\u2019re also about the punishment of hard work and success through confiscatory government policy; about the replacement of age-old American equality of opportunity by government-mandated equality of <em>outcome<\/em>, and \u2014 perhaps most importantly \u2014 they are about current attempts by liberal politicians to interject government into the daily life decisions of ordinary American citizens.<\/p>\n<p>CNN reporter Susan Roesgen can try to control the focus of these tea parties all she wants by shouting at participants to talk <em>only<\/em> about taxes, but that just shows she\u2019s missing the boat as badly as folks like Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill (Democrat), who <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/jeffemanuel\/status\/1528867686\">posted to Twitter this afternoon<\/a> that she was \u201cconfused\u201d why people were fed up with trillions in government waste.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s okay; these people can not get it all they want.
