I caught Albert saying that he did not want to be remembered as a baseball hero. . What he did want to be remembered as, I’ll tell you in a minute.\u00a0 But first let me affirm that Albert Pujols is going to retire as either the greatest or the second greatest (to Lou Gehrig) first baseman ever to play the game.\u00a0 If he retired tomorrow, he’d be in the top five or six, easy.\u00a0 The man is not only a hitting machine.\u00a0 He is intensely focused on whatever he can do to help his team win a game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s what moves his heart that interests me.\u00a0 He said to the SI reporter, “I only want to be remembered as a man who loved the Lord.”\u00a0 That is how he talks, when he talks.\u00a0 And it occurs to me that even if you considered it only as a social phenomenon, the love of Christ — Christ’s love for us, and our love for Him — is the most remarkable thing in the history of the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
