{"id":1789,"date":"2009-05-12T14:22:39","date_gmt":"2009-05-12T18:22:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=1789"},"modified":"2009-05-12T14:22:39","modified_gmt":"2009-05-12T18:22:39","slug":"our-innumerate-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=1789","title":{"rendered":"Our Innumerate President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Via the Corner, Ed Whelan notes two instances in which President Obama <a href=\"http:\/\/corner.nationalreview.com\/post\/?q=ODhmYmU3YzY2MzI3MTkyNTQwNzJmNWI2NjE0ZGRkM2U=\" target=\"_blank\">previously said<\/a>,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[W]hile adherence to legal precedent and rules of statutory or constitutional construction will dispose of 95 percent of the cases that come before a court, so that both a Scalia and a Ginsburg will arrive at the same place most of the time on those 95 percent of the cases \u2014 what matters on the Supreme Court is those 5 percent of cases that are truly difficult.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>OK. What <em>is that man<\/em> talking about? A quick look at some, you know, actual statistics shows that the agreement is just <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorkcourtwatcher.com\/2009\/02\/supreme-court-ginsburgs-place-among-her_25.html\" target=\"_blank\">a little less<\/a>. Ms Ginsberg agreed with Mr Scalia less than 15% of the time and Mr Thomas less than 10%. A far cry from 95%.<\/p>\n<p>So, remind me why is this man touted for his &#8220;high intelligence?&#8221; He&#8217;s either bright &#8230; and a bald faced liar &#8230; or he&#8217;s innumerate.
