It occurred to me that we outside the beltway and the business of politics are always confused why politicians assume they can &#8220;get away&#8221; with blatant lies and flat denials of the obvious. I think one suggestion is that they do it because from their point of view it <em>usually<\/em> works.<\/li>\n<li>On marriage, <a href=\"http:\/\/janotec.typepad.com\/terrace\/2009\/05\/marital-confessions.html\" target=\"_blank\">the plastic mask<\/a>, and the lack of good role models.<\/li>\n<li>On the <a href=\"http:\/\/metalutheran.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/keynesian-customers.html\" target=\"_blank\">demand driven economy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A health update <a href=\"http:\/\/jollyblogger.typepad.com\/jollyblogger\/2009\/05\/health-update-51809.html\" target=\"_blank\">from David<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Spending some money, <a href=\"http:\/\/ancienthebrewpoetry.typepad.com\/ancient_hebrew_poetry\/2009\/05\/how-to-spend-2000-in-books-and-other-media-for-a-church-library-suggestions.html\" target=\"_blank\">suggestions sought<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"http:\/\/math.ucr.edu\/home\/baez\/history.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">paper <\/a>(linked from <a href=\"http:\/\/golem.ph.utexas.edu\/category\/2009\/05\/a_prehistory_of_ncategorical_p.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>An interesting post, but it kicks off with a quote which is flatly wrong <a href=\"http:\/\/golem.ph.utexas.edu\/category\/2009\/05\/a_prehistory_of_ncategorical_p.html\" target=\"_blank\">as a generalization<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.partiallyclips.com\/index.php?id=1607\" target=\"_blank\">Heh<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A criticism of &#8220;thinking globally&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/bighollywood.breitbart.com\/ggutfeld\/2009\/05\/18\/daily-gut-thinking-globally-screwing-locally\/\" target=\"_blank\">as an excuse<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Gossip <a href=\"http:\/\/chicagoboyz.net\/archives\/7146.html\" target=\"_blank\">and history<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Mr Greenwald excuses Ms Dowd <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/opinion\/greenwald\/2009\/05\/18\/parasites\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">somewhat lamely<\/a>, claiming &#8220;And anyone who spends any time writing a blog, or anything else for that matters, should consider it a good thing when their work is used, with or without credit. \u00a0Nobody would engage in that activity in the absence of a belief that they have something worthwhile to say and a desire that it have some impact on political discussions.&#8221; Bloggers <em>link<\/em> what they quote.
