That is the aggregate percentage of United States GDP produced by the three industries that the Democrats hope to restructure from the top down: Health care (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nchc.org\/facts\/cost.shtml\">17% of GDP<\/a>), energy (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eia.doe.gov\/oiaf\/aeo\/economic.html\">9.8% of GDP<\/a>), and financial services (<a href=\"http:\/\/sternfinance.blogspot.com\/2008\/10\/future-of-financial-industry-thomas.html\">8% of GDP<\/a>).
