Two remarks from me, first I&#8217;d guess that this person has not personally yet raised any kids and second the assumption that religious beliefs are the sort in which you &#8220;should teach that there are alternatives&#8221; presupposes a tepid sort of belief. You would not teach your child that the universe really doesn&#8217;t exist (solipsism) is &#8220;a viable option&#8221; for basing ethics because you don&#8217;t believe it is reasonable.<\/li>\n<li>SSD cleaning.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.commentarymagazine.com\/blogs\/index.php\/richman\/75761\" target=\"_blank\">Judgement vs vetting<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Matters the Democrats are dodging <a href=\"http:\/\/meganmcardle.theatlantic.com\/archives\/2009\/08\/the_politics_of_cost_control.php\" target=\"_blank\">in the healthcare &#8220;debate&#8221;<\/a>. Why the <a href=\"http:\/\/chicagoboyz.net\/archives\/8588.html\" target=\"_blank\">scare quotes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Birther and truther, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themonkeycage.org\/2009\/08\/birthers_and_truthers_compared.html\" target=\"_blank\">a graph<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Oddly enough the thing that struck me in this piece was his <a href=\"http:\/\/obsidianwings.blogs.com\/obsidian_wings\/2009\/08\/im-creepin-and-im-creepin.html\" target=\"_blank\">vision of &#8220;ideal&#8221; society<\/a>, wifi, robust GDP, and universal healthcare. How tepid. And, in response to the main point, the problem is <em><a id=\"static_txt_preview\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0195373383?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=pseudopolymat-20&amp;link_code=as3&amp;camp=211189&amp;creative=373489&amp;creativeASIN=0195373383\">The Bottom Billion<\/a><\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Exercise <a href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/5334144\/exercise-wont-make-you-thin-but-it-will-make-you-healthy\" target=\"_blank\">won&#8217;t make you thin<\/a> &#8230; tell that to the endurance athletes of the world, they&#8217;ll likely disagree just a bit.<\/li>\n<li>An <a href=\"http:\/\/rustbeltphilosophy.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/image-interpretation-failure.html\" target=\"_blank\">Attack<\/a>!!<\/li>\n<li>On Sodom and Gomorrah two short pieces, <a href=\"http:\/\/jollyblogger.typepad.com\/jollyblogger\/2009\/07\/if-god-doesnt-judge-america-hell-have-to-apologize-to-sodom-and-gomorrah-huh.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/parablemania.ektopos.com\/archives\/2009\/08\/sodom-gomorrah.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> (the second is a response to the first).<\/li>\n<li>Christian response to <a href=\"http:\/\/theologica.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/chrysostom-nothing-you-can-do-to-harm.html\" target=\"_blank\">political oppression done right<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Turning <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstthings.com\/blogs\/firstthoughts\/2009\/08\/10\/infants-more-conscious-than-adults\/\" target=\"_blank\">it around<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A motive for Russian <a href=\"http:\/\/zmagarka.livejournal.com\/712653.html\" target=\"_blank\">aggression against Georgia<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Afghanistan <a href=\"http:\/\/pajamasmedia.com\/richardfernandez\/2009\/08\/10\/the-bolt-from-the-red-white-and-blue\/\" target=\"_blank\">and marketing<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Plugging <a href=\"http:\/\/mereorthodoxy.com\/?p=1870\" target=\"_blank\">the City<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Considering Dawkins and imposition of beliefs on the young.
