{"id":3791,"date":"2010-09-24T10:55:00","date_gmt":"2010-09-24T15:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=3791"},"modified":"2010-10-08T11:54:21","modified_gmt":"2010-10-08T16:54:21","slug":"friday-link-wrap-up-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=3791","title":{"rendered":"Friday Link Wrap-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/0\/8c0a68b0-c1bc-11df-9d90-00144feab49a.html\">Photonic computers<\/a>, that use light rather than electrical signals to do the work, may actually be on the horizon.\u00a0 This will be huge.\u00a0 While it&#8217;s still a few years down the road, the number of years is in the single digits at this point.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/id\/39265847\">Let&#8217;s be more like Europe!<\/a> &#8220;The UK&#8217;s tax collection agency is putting forth a proposal that all employers send employee paychecks to the government, after which the government would deduct what it deems as the appropriate tax and pay the employees by bank transfer.&#8221;\u00a0 Even a little socialism can be a dangerous thing.\u00a0 Exhibit A.<\/p>\n<p>Obama supporters are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2010\/09\/20\/cnbc_town_hall_questioner_to_obama_im_exhausted_of_defending_you.html\">&#8220;exhausted of defending&#8221; him<\/a>.\u00a0 If this turns into an exhaustion of voting for Democrats, House and Senate seats polling close now may yet be a big win for Republicans.\u00a0 Obama only has himself to blame; supporters are not exhausted of defending &#8220;the mess&#8221; he inherited, they&#8217;re tired of defending his <a href=\"http:\/\/biggovernment.com\/vhaley\/2010\/09\/23\/top-10-failures-of-obamanomics\/\">&#8220;accomplishments&#8221;<\/a>.\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve lost <a href=\"http:\/\/politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com\/2010\/09\/23\/stewart-saddened-by-obama\/\">Jon Stewart<\/a>, you&#8217;ve lost a lot of folks who think he&#8217;s a news anchor.\u00a0 (Which is, unfortunately, quite a lot of people.)<\/p>\n<p>No, ACORN isn&#8217;t really dead, it&#8217;s just changed its name.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/biggovernment.com\/mvadum\/2010\/09\/24\/hud-report-slams-corrupt-acorn-as-funding-ban-set-to-expire-for-undead-group\/\">And it&#8217;s still breaking the law<\/a>, so says federal investigators who are urging that the funding moratorium be made permanent.<\/p>\n<p>Obama says the stimulus kept the recession from falling into a depression.\u00a0 But economists are now saying that, technically, we came out of the recession in June, 2009.\u00a0 That&#8217;s <em>before<\/em> the stimulus really kicked in.\u00a0 We spent $800 billion on measures to save the economy from something <a href=\"http:\/\/detnews.com\/article\/20100923\/OPINION03\/9230338\/1008\/OPINION01\/Stimulus-didn-t-save-the-nation-from-depression\">it had recovered from <em>on its own<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 Under that guise, we got record- and precedent-setting debt.<\/p>\n<p>Which is why the Tea Party influence in the Republican party is so needed now, even if the GOP goes kicking and screaming.\u00a0 (Click for a larger image.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cagle.com\/politicalcartoons\/pccartoons\/permalink.asp?artist=asay&amp;date=100922\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto\" title=\"Chuck Asay cartoon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cagle.com\/working\/100922\/asay.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Chuck Asay cartoon\" width=\"420\" height=\"309\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photonic computers, that use light rather than electrical signals to do the work, may actually be on the horizon.\u00a0 This will be huge.\u00a0 While it&#8217;s still a few years down the road, the number of years is in the single digits at this point.
