{"id":3840,"date":"2010-10-04T10:51:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-04T15:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=3840"},"modified":"2010-10-04T12:02:14","modified_gmt":"2010-10-04T17:02:14","slug":"a-stark-contrast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=3840","title":{"rendered":"A Stark Contrast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The &#8220;One Nation&#8221; rally of liberals vs. the &#8220;Restoring Honor&#8221; rally of conservatives.\u00a0 What a study in contrasts.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with the numbers.\u00a0 Now, you may say that the numbers really aren&#8217;t that meaningful; what matters is the message.\u00a0 Fair enough, except the number <em>really<\/em> mattered to the Left.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/laborunionreport\/2010\/10\/03\/the-onenation-rally-because-size-matters\/\">As pseudonymous writer &#8220;LaborUnionReport&#8221;<\/a> notes from RedState:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>You see, the size of the Saturday\u2019s OneNation rally would not really matter <em><strong>if<\/strong><\/em>\u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>MSNBC\u2019s Ed Schultz didn\u2019t <a href=\"http:\/\/newsbusters.org\/blogs\/noel-sheppard\/2010\/10\/03\/ed-schultz-friday-more-300-000-will-attend-one-nation-rally\">foolishly make the claim that he would have 300,000 people at Socialist Saturday<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.laborunionreport.com\/portal\/2010\/10\/afl-cio-boss-want-to-take-over-private-business\/\">Leninist labor boss Richard Trumka<\/a> hadn\u2019t <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/view\/2010\/09\/24-3\">predicted 100,000 union members<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/plum-line\/2010\/10\/will_tomorrows_one_nation_rall.html\">SEIU hadn\u2019t claimed 75,000 of its purple progressives<\/a><em> would be bused in (unless the SEIU really meant that 75k of its janitors would do park clean-up for <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/freedomeden.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/seiu-trash-and-wwii-memorial.html\"><em>all the SEIU signs that were left lying around<\/em><\/a>), and;<\/li>\n<li>Some dolt didn\u2019t come on stage and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/stories\/one-nation-claims-satellite-image-proves-102-rally-is-bigger-than-restoring-honor\/\">claim that a satellite image<\/a> proved that the Marxist March on Washington was bigger than Beck\u2019s 8\/28 rally&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/biggovernment.com\/publius\/2010\/10\/04\/one-nation-rally-vs-becks-restoring-honor-rally\/\">Identical aerial views<\/a> of the two rallies clearly show what one would call a gaping enthusiasm gap.\u00a0 Keep those shots in mind when you read media articles that try to equivalence the two.\u00a0 And consider, too, how many bought-and-paid-for attendees were there for &#8220;One Nation&#8221; (including <a href=\"http:\/\/gatewaypundit.firstthings.com\/2010\/10\/high-school-students-admit-they-are-getting-class-credit-to-attend-leftist-one-nation-rally-video\/\">students getting school credit<\/a> for attending) and they still couldn&#8217;t hold a candle to the crowd from &#8220;Restoring Honor&#8221;, the vast majority that came on their own dime.\u00a0 Nancy Pelosi once called the Tea Party &#8220;astroturf&#8221;, but clearly the plastic grass is on their side of the fence.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and another contrast is how you treat something you pay for vs something that&#8217;s provided for you.\u00a0 You care more for something you paid for yourself, and thus there was quite a difference between <a href=\"http:\/\/erickbrockway.com\/2010\/10\/02\/remember-back-when-the-left-and-democrats-used-to-care-about-the-environment\/\">how the &#8220;One Nation&#8221; attendees left the Washington Mall<\/a> vs how the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theodoresworld.net\/archives\/2010\/08\/note_the_difference_after_the.html\">&#8220;Restoring Honor&#8221; attendees did<\/a>.\u00a0 When you pay for something yourself, you tend to take better care of it, which is a truism that can apply to government policies in general; a lesson the Left\u00a0 never seems to learn.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/directorblue.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/15-photos-from-onenation-rally-youll.html\">And as Doug Ross notes<\/a>, socialism played a big role in the rally.\u00a0 Do these people even <em>know<\/em> the sordid history of socialism in the world?\u00a0 That&#8217;s where this bunch wants to take us; further and further dependence on government and the power grab that is part and parcel of places like Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>This is their &#8220;America&#8221;?\u00a0 What an awful place, and what a contrast between liberal and conservative.\u00a0 I still do have hope.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The &#8220;One Nation&#8221; rally of liberals vs. the &#8220;Restoring Honor&#8221; rally of conservatives.\u00a0 What a study in contrasts.
