{"id":4444,"date":"2011-07-19T08:20:44","date_gmt":"2011-07-19T13:20:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=4444"},"modified":"2011-07-19T08:20:44","modified_gmt":"2011-07-19T13:20:44","slug":"things-heard-e182v2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=4444","title":{"rendered":"Things Heard: e182v2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/thevieweast.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/17\/living-with-the-enemy-informing-the-stasi\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stasi<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Textbooks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2011\/07\/18\/amazon-rolls-out-textbook-rentals-for-kindle-promises-discounts\/\" target=\"_blank\">to rent<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The cosmological argument <a href=\"http:\/\/edwardfeser.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/so-you-think-you-understand.html\" target=\"_blank\">for God<\/a>&nbsp;(HT: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstthings.com\/blogs\/firstthoughts\/2011\/07\/18\/so-you-think-you-understand-the-cosmological-argument\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mr Carter<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Two climate related incidents, CERN decides good&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/motls.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/cern-boss-i-forbade-employees-to.html\" target=\"_blank\">science practices are bad<\/a>&nbsp;(for politics, I guess), and some past (and present) <a href=\"http:\/\/borepatch.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/prediction-is-very-hard-especially.html\" target=\"_blank\">climate consensi<\/a>. Today&#8217;s predictions, of course, are going to be so so much more accurate, in part because of the policies noted in the first post help make for good progress (in which good doesn&#8217;t mean accurate).<\/li>\n<li>That number, I offer, packs a <a href=\"http:\/\/green.autoblog.com\/2011\/07\/18\/study-electric-vehicles-90-less-costly-to-refuel-than-gasoli\/\" target=\"_blank\">lot of garbage statistics<\/a>. My Honda for example is, likely, 65-70% less costly to refuel than the average and it&#8217;s a gas burner (and energy taxes on gasoline are the same as for that average car). Add taxes into the mix, the somewhat suspect eMPG conversion, and voila you&#8217;re probably around 90%.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Marriage and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnsanidopoulos.com\/2011\/07\/faithful-husband-that-did-not-abandon.html\" target=\"_blank\">that ugly patriarchy stuff<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Russia <a href=\"http:\/\/byztex.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/russia-reverses-course-on-abortion.html\" target=\"_blank\">and abortion, today<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>One <a href=\"http:\/\/dsadevil.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/choices-choices.html\" target=\"_blank\">pro-choice person<\/a> fears some pro-life groups steer toward perferred outcomes (apparently that steering isn&#8217;t a problem when pro-choice groups do the same). We call that hypocrisy.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/science.slashdot.org\/story\/11\/07\/18\/211259\/Neanderthal-Genes-Found-In-All-Non-African-Populations\" target=\"_blank\">Neanderthal<\/a>!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/borepatch.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/range-report-fn-five-seven.html\" target=\"_blank\">Why<\/a>? Because momentum is mass * velocity and energy is 1\/2 * mass * velocity squared. Damage is related to energy, momementum is what affects recoil.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Poverty <a href=\"http:\/\/gatesofvienna.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/obamas-socialist-view-poverty-is.html\" target=\"_blank\">is not relative<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Party <a href=\"http:\/\/theresurgence.com\/2011\/07\/18\/not-your-typical-surprise-party\" target=\"_blank\">on dude<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Out of the mouths <a href=\"http:\/\/bighollywood.breitbart.com\/jjmnolte\/2011\/07\/18\/did-anyone-notice-bill-maher-trashing-sarah-palins-children-as-family-of-inbred-weirdos\/\" target=\"_blank\">of liberal spokespersons<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning.
