{"id":4965,"date":"2012-02-27T13:55:42","date_gmt":"2012-02-27T18:55:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=4965"},"modified":"2012-02-27T13:55:42","modified_gmt":"2012-02-27T18:55:42","slug":"the-uks-bank-account-is-empty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=4965","title":{"rendered":"The UK&#8217;s Bank Account is Empty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/politics\/9107485\/George-Osborne-UK-has-run-out-of-money.html\" target=\"_blank\">So says two high-ranking government officials<\/a> who would know.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In a stark warning ahead of next month\u2019s Budget, the Chancellor said there was little the Coalition could do to stimulate the economy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Osborne made it clear that due to the parlous state of the public finances the best hope for economic growth was to encourage businesses to flourish and hire more workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe British Government has run out of money because all the money was spent in the good years,\u201d the Chancellor said. \u201cThe money and the investment and the jobs need to come from the private sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"pd_a_5983304\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What should George Osborne do to provide a tax cut?<\/p>\n<p>Tax the rich more to allow the income tax rate to be lifted to \u00a310,000Borrow more and worry about reducing national debt in future yearsWe can&#8217;t afford any tax cuts<\/p>\n<p>Mr Osborne\u2019s bleak assessment echoes that of Liam Byrne, the former chief secretary to the Treasury, who bluntly joked that Labour had left Britain broke when he exited the Government in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>He left David Laws, his successor, a one-line note saying: \u201cDear Chief Secretary, I\u2019m afraid to tell you there\u2019s no money left\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Osborne is under severe pressure to boost growth, amid signs the economy is slipping back into a recession.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Conservatives have been saying this for a generation. Government spending bankrupts us all. The private sector is where economic growth comes from.
