I hope everyone had a good memorable Memorial day. If you want to read something patriotic, I often recommend the first chapter or two or the Book of Ruth. Ruth’s declamatory statement to Naomi strikes me as the essence of patriotism.<\/p>\n

  1. I have to confess,\u00a0unlike many readers<\/a>, I find the\u00a0likability\u00a0of the protagonist important, for example that was a reason I couldn’t stand the Thomas Covenant series. The protagonist doesn’t have to be likable I guess, but it really really helps if there is someone who is likable.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Legal-like\u00a0moonshine<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  3. Law and\u00a0drones continued<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. Academic\u00a0failings<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  5. Theodicy\u00a0and Presidential statements<\/a> … so do you think Presidents and other politicians actually read the context of the verses they choose? Did this President do so?<\/li>\n
  6. Liberal hack\u00a0and … uncivil as well<\/a>? Don’t worry the liberal hack thing will keep him is moonlight job as a NYTimes pundit and liberals stapled to the cause will never believe he might say or do wrong.<\/li>\n
  7. Scandal\u00a0in India<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  8. Future’s so\u00a0bright and all … maybe<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  9. Star Trek,\u00a0sliced and diced<\/a> (spoilers aplenty) (HT\u00a0Ms (slightly) Mad Minerva<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  10. Bars of the\u00a0uneven kind<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  11. PEDs\u00a0and a mountain<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  12. So … you’re in Nashville. Where to go? What do do?\u00a0How about this<\/a>?<\/li>\n
