If you want to read something patriotic, I often recommend the first chapter or two or the Book of Ruth. Ruth&#8217;s declamatory statement to Naomi strikes me as the essence of patriotism.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span>I have to confess,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/obsidianwings.blogs.com\/obsidian_wings\/2013\/05\/likeability-and-motives-for-reading.html?utm_source=feedly\" target=\"_blank\">unlike many readers<\/a>, I find the\u00a0likability\u00a0of the protagonist important, for example that was a reason I couldn&#8217;t stand the Thomas Covenant series. The protagonist doesn&#8217;t have to be likable I guess, but it really really helps if there is someone who is likable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Legal-like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2013\/5\/27\/4370180\/how-tennessee-moonshine-is-becoming-big-business?utm_source=feedly\" target=\"_blank\">moonshine<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Law and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawfareblog.com\/2013\/05\/the-intersection-of-vague-disclosure-and-reduced-drone-strikes\/?utm_source=feedly\" target=\"_blank\">drones continued<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Academic\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.volokh.com\/2013\/05\/27\/joel-alicea-on-intellectual-diversity-in-the-legal-academy\/?utm_source=feedly\" target=\"_blank\">failings<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Theodicy\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/getreligion\/2013\/05\/does-the-president-and-the-press-get-theodicy\/?utm_source=feedly\" target=\"_blank\">and Presidential statements<\/a> &#8230; so do you think Presidents and other politicians actually read the context of the verses they choose? Did this President do so?<\/li>\n<li>Liberal hack\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/modeledbehavior\/2013\/05\/27\/optimal-civility\/?utm_source=feedly\" target=\"_blank\">and &#8230; uncivil as well<\/a>?
