{"id":5903,"date":"2013-08-28T20:14:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-29T01:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=5903"},"modified":"2013-08-28T20:14:00","modified_gmt":"2013-08-29T01:14:00","slug":"things-heard-e270v2n3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=5903","title":{"rendered":"Things Heard: e270v2n3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Still busy, but trying to make time for y&#8217;all<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2013\/8\/28\/4659834\/unlocking-the-positron-fusion-annihilation-laser\" target=\"_blank\">Bzaaaap<\/a>!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feministphilosophers.wordpress.com\/2013\/08\/28\/blurred-lines-and-double-standards\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hmmm, two ways to go on that <\/a>&#8230; yes censuring both is in order, but only one was a family hour\/children&#8217;s TV hostess\/actress.<\/li>\n<li>Here, however, is a third way\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.duffelblog.com\/2013\/08\/miley-cyrus-vma-al-qaeda\/\" target=\"_blank\">you probably haven&#8217;t considered<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.weeklystandard.com\/blogs\/obama-i-have-not-made-decision-syria_751349.html\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;I have not yet made a decision&#8221;<\/a> and the subtext is that we all remember &#8220;I&#8217;m the guy who spent knew for 9 months where Bin Laden and it took all that time for me to make up my mind to go after him.&#8221; Somebody should remind him, not to draw a do not cross line if it is just a bluff. Like the bin Laden attack, we&#8217;ll have to wait for a wag-the-dog domestic prompt to get us to move.<\/li>\n<li>Related to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawfareblog.com\/2013\/08\/why-doesnt-president-obama-seek-congressional-approval-for-syria\/\" target=\"_blank\">the above<\/a>. So, prior to being elected President, Mr Obama was firmly against Presidential unilateral military action, now he&#8217;s for it (indeed done it). Stupid or evil (that is, was he so dumb he didn&#8217;t anticipate reasons for doing so, or was he lying when he said he was against it?) Liberals keep telling how smart they are, which alas, leaves the &#8220;evil&#8221; alternative.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/357006\/matthews-obamas-opponents-dishonest-about-opposition-sterling-beard\" target=\"_blank\">I think this belief noted <\/a>(that racism is the motive) is common on the left. It remains interesting (ironic?) that that assumption is itself \u00a0the essence of bigotry.<\/li>\n<li> Guns\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/proteinwisdom.com\/?p=50731\" target=\"_blank\">and legal control<\/a>. Back when I was in school, a very good cartoon was on a door in our dorm &#8230; &#8220;People don&#8217;t kill people,\u00a0<em>Toasters<\/em> kill people.&#8221; with the image of a guy falling down dead with toast impaling his back and another holding a toaster like a mortar.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/borepatch.blogspot.com\/2013\/08\/scientific-ethics-and-research.html\" target=\"_blank\">Noble cause corruption<\/a>&#8221; isn&#8217;t noble but it is indeed corruption.<\/li>\n<li>Chemicals to leave\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pipeline.corante.com\/archives\/2013\/08\/28\/mercury_azides_ill_get_right_on_those_for_you.php\" target=\"_blank\">for the professionals<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Academic\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pipeline.corante.com\/archives\/2013\/08\/28\/mercury_azides_ill_get_right_on_those_for_you.php\" target=\"_blank\">potential<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Who\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archbishop-cranmer.blogspot.com\/2013\/08\/the-road-to-bombing-damascus.html\" target=\"_blank\">done it<\/a>?<\/li>\n<li>A short way from surrealism\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twentytwowords.com\/2013\/08\/27\/realistic-paintings-of-what-people-are-looking-at-reflected-in-their-sunglasses-6-pictures\/\" target=\"_blank\">is hyper-realism,<\/a> both I will admit to liking.<\/li>\n<li>A mistake\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/branemrys.blogspot.com\/2013\/08\/the-ism-mistake-and-consequentialism.html\" target=\"_blank\">I&#8217;ve made<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Still busy, but trying to make time for y&#8217;all Bzaaaap!
