{"id":6203,"date":"2014-02-28T12:03:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-28T17:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=6203"},"modified":"2014-02-27T09:12:16","modified_gmt":"2014-02-27T14:12:16","slug":"employer-mandate-already-hitting-public-sector-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stonescryout.org\/?p=6203","title":{"rendered":"Employer Mandate Already Hitting Public Sector, Too"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since I know there are some folks who deny that ObamaCare is impacting workers&#8217; hours, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/02\/21\/us\/public-sector-cuts-part-time-shifts-to-duck-insurance-law.html\">here&#8217;s a NY Times article<\/a> that notes that even the public sector is feeling the pinch already.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Cities, counties, public schools and community colleges around the country have limited or reduced the work hours of part-time employees to avoid having to provide them with health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, state and local officials say.<\/p>\n<p>The cuts to public sector employment, which has failed to rebound since the recession, could serve as a powerful political weapon for Republican critics of the health care law, who claim that it is creating a drain on the economy.<\/p>\n<p>President Obama has twice delayed enforcement of the health care law\u2019s employer mandate, which would subject larger employers to tax penalties if they do not offer insurance coverage to employees who work at least 30 hours a week, on average. But many public employers have already adopted policies, laws or regulations to make sure workers stay under that threshold.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2014\/02\/26\/harry_reid_all_of_the_obamacare_horror_stories_are_untrue.html\">Harry Reid recently claimed<\/a>, \u201dThere\u2019s plenty of horror stories being told [about Obamacare],\u201d Reid said. \u201cAll of them are untrue.\u201d Tell that to the workers of this country, Harry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since I know there are some folks who deny that ObamaCare is impacting workers&#8217; hours, here&#8217;s a NY Times article that notes that even the public sector is feeling the pinch already.
