- OK, those of you on the left, spin that!
- For those who thought Mrs Palin a drag on McCain’s race.
- Problems with a taxonomy of philosophy.
- A prayer.
- Chick Tracts and Cthulhu.
- Mr Emanuel one view. Another.

- One view on McCain’s loss. Another.
- Goin’ to the big city … and as a coda, now I’m seeing it in more than one place … I’m going to have to read some Rawls it seems … even thought what I have seen seems very flawed.
- The visible body of Christ.
- Inequity in wages … and the parties.
- Will Obama slow that growth?
- A biker won.
- Voting and felons, on which I might try to write more this weekend from a non-social contractarian point of view (having at this point rejected the notion of social contract as being useful or valid myself).
- Dance of death.
- Batmobile downsized and its nemesis?
- Memory eternal.
- Into the last book.
- A question for a shared faith. Another political question and faith.

Re: Palin – go ahead and run her again. You’ll see that while she REALLY energizes some 20-30% of the population, she REALLY creeps out most of the rest of us. As long as Republicans keep running Palin-types, they will keep losing. They can’t win with an energized minority base and no other support whatsoever.
But if that’s the direction they want to run, go for it. I’d suggest that the sooner the Right begins to learn from some of Obama’s successes and strategies (and, to a lesser degree, his policies – although they’ll never fully agree with those and that’s okay), the sooner the Republican Party might have a chance to reinvent itself and bounce back.
And, to the degree that I’d like to see a genuine conservative party alternative and voice, I’d support that. But as long as Republican=neoconservative, I’m glad for them to continue to wound themselves.
48% of the popular vote is an “energized minority base”?
Seems like the last poll results (sorry, I know some here don’t like them) show Palin’s support at around 30%. Regardless, that is my hunch about how popular her and her type of neoconservatism would be.
If you think Republican’s would have better luck with her, by all means, run her again. I suspect she’d never get much more than 30% support. Maybe I’m wrong. Run her and find out.
Dan,
Neoconservativism? You like that term, but I don’t know that it really has meaning, especially with regards to Mrs Palin.
As far as “minority”, you realize the biggest voting block … didn’t vote, 37.5% of the electorate didn’t vote, which leaves about 33% for Mr Obama and 29% for Mr McCain. That puts your 30% for Mrs Palin in good standing, no?
Run her again, then. Good luck.
