The Bible as "Hate Speech", Schools as "Anti-Free Speech" Zones
I understand that schools should and do determine what’s appropriate to be said during school hours, but with all the other speech and such that they do allow, this prohibition looks rather targeted.
A federal judge has rejected a claim that the Poway Unified School District violated a teenager’s First Amendment rights by pulling him out of class for wearing a T-shirt with an anti-gay slogan.
Tuesday’s ruling by U.S. District Judge John Houston reaffirmed an earlier decision in which he found the school district’s policy on hate speech lawful.
Tyler Harper sued the school in 2004 after the district said he could not wear a shirt printed with a Bible verse condemning homosexuality. His younger sister, Kelsie, was named as a plaintiff after he graduated.

We began a new web site devoted to defending religious liberty in the West. The TecumsehProject.com asks every church, synagogue, moralist group and family to identify ONE PERSON within the group to help on the Tecumseh Project for 6 months. Those volunteers can stay with us after that, or help identify someone to take their place.
Tecumseh Project is a grassroots and internet movement unifying freedom lovers against oppression. We appreciate whatever exposure you can give us. Thank you! And God bless,
Having written a website on God, Jesus Christ, the Bible and Christianity I have spent the last couple of weeks looking for blogs and websites that deal with the same topics that my website deals with.
I have now found and studied about 50 of such blogs and websites.
Of those 50 or so blogs and websites more than 10 percent (let us say 6 or 7 ) dealt with the attitude of Christianity towards homosexuality.
Is not that remarkable.
About this relationship I want to say the following things;
1 Only the Hebrew Scriptures mention homosexuality a number of times. The Greek Scriptures ignore the subject completely. This means that no one knows the view of homosexuality of Jesus Christ, the apostles, the writers of the so called New Testament.
2 In the Hebrew Scriptures homosexuality is only mentioned as part of the Jewish law (the law of Moses) which consisted of more than 600 things that Jews were obliged to do or forbidden to do.
3 There can be no doubt about it that Jesus Christ abolished the law of Moses and replaced it by what He calls the most important commandment for all His followers: love God with all your heart, all your intellect and all your strenghth and love your neighbour as you love yourself.
You wrote… “Only the Hebrew Scriptures mention homosexuality a number of times. The Greek Scriptures ignore the subject completely. This means that no one knows the view of homosexuality of Jesus Christ, the apostles, the writers of the so called New Testament.”
Not so much true…
The Apostle Paul wrote about it not once but twice in 1 Corinthians in 55 C.E. and again around 61-64 C.E. in 1 Timothy
The subject of circumcision among the 1 century Christians came up no less than 8 times because they held to it stubbornly…
the apostles including Paul wrote about things when the “sheep” strayed from teachings. I.E. how many times has your Mom or Dad told you not to something and you STILL didn’t listen?!
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (New American Standard Bible)
9Or (A)do you not know that the unrighteous will not (B)inherit the kingdom of God? (C)Do not be deceived; (D)neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor [a]effeminate, nor homosexuals,
same verse (new world translation)
9 What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, 10 nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. 11 And yet that is what some of YOU were. But YOU have been washed clean, but YOU have been sanctified, but YOU have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.
1 Tim 1:10 (New American Standard Bible)
and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,
in the knowledge of this fact, that law is promulgated, not for a righteous man, but for persons lawless and unruly, ungodly and sinners, lacking loving-kindness, and profane, murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, manslayers, 10 fornicators, men who lie with males, kidnappers, liars, false swearers, and whatever other thing is in opposition to the healthful teaching 11 according to the glorious good news of the happy God, with which I was entrusted.
12 I am grateful to Christ Jesus our Lord, who imparted power to me, because he considered me faithful by assigning me to a ministry, 13 although formerly I was a blasphemer and a persecutor and an insolent man. Nevertheless, I was shown mercy, because I was ignorant and acted with a lack of faith.
Christ fulfilled the Mosaic Law. He was the last “Lamb” sacrificed. The reason God called upon the Israelites to sacrifice animals was to atone for sins(debt from Adam and Eve’s sin) of the nation in blood. The blood of animals was not perfect though.
Christ’s blood however WAS perfect and paid off this debt of sin so that animal blood was no longer needed
This is not to say we should pass judgment on people. Like Paul wrote “Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief”1 Tim 1:13
“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all.”1 Tim 1:15
Knowledge is power but power should be used wisely!!!
John 17:3 And this is eternal life: to have knowledge of you, the only true God, and of him whom you have sent, even Jesus Christ.
