Most Influential Evangelicals?

I’m working on a project that explores what I’m calling “the evangelical generation” from 1976 through the present. As part of the research, I’m considering the question: “Who have been the 35-40 most influential evangelicals of our generation?”
Who would you list, and why?

Do you consider anabaptists “evangelical?” That is, Mennonites, Church of the Brethren?
If so, I’d include John Howard Yoder high on the list.
I’d think you’d have to include Al Mohler, much as the thought distresses me (since he is, indeed, quite influential – would that it weren’t so).
Jimmy Carter? He certainly has been influential and out there in the public eye.
Glen Stassen, as one who has been greatly responsible for the Just Peace Theory movement.
I don’t reckon he’d count as an evangelical, but Leonardo Boff or one of the other leading Liberation Theologians have had a huge impact on the world.
Is Billy Graham counted as “our generation?” If so, you’d probably have to count him.
Like them or not, you might have to include Rick Warren and Brian McLaren, as they both have been tremendously influential.
Good suggestions, Dan. I think many anabaptists are evangelicals, although they may not use that language. Yoder is a possibility.
Don’t think the same of the liberation theologians, generally.
Most of the others you’ve suggested are on my list. Not sure if it should be McLaren or someone else in the emergent church movement. Some have said Rob Bell.
Interesting to think about this. Thanks for thinking along.

what is Evangelical this days?
Hey, great discussion. I think Billy Graham should definitely be considered, he’s helped gotten God’s message out to so many people. Praise him.
