Global Warming quote of the day
In Congress Went to Denmark, You Got the Bill, CBS reports on the cost to taxpayers for the recent Global Warming Climate Change summit in Copenhagen. Not surprisingly, the bill is over $1.1 million, which doesn’t include the President’s staff. However, what I think is the most interesting comment, regarding the trip, was made by Rep. Henry Waxman.
“It was cold… I was there because I thought it was important for me to be there,” Rep. Waxman said. “I didn’t look at it as a pleasure trip.”
Did you catch that? It was cold at, of all places, a summit on Global Warming.
Sigh.

::heavy sigh::
You see, it’s climate change, not an end to weather.
Global warming doesn’t mean that the entire planet bakes all the time. It means that, especially at first, weather swings will be wilder.
That means we should have record cold and record snows, too, in addition to record heat and changes in precipitation patterns.
Global warming doesn’t end winter. Yet.
Ed,
I understand the idea being pitched, now. I guess there’s no escaping the conclusion that we’re on the throes of global-warming-climate-change-cooling-then-heating when predictions are made that the polar ice caps will soon melt only after we experience cooler than usual temps?
Instead of making extrapolations based on limited (and sometimes faulty) data, how about we address issues we know are relevant now (e.g., malaria, hunger)? In the meantime, rather than scaremonger people about the horrors of something we’re not quite sure of, how about we teach simple, yet wise, management of resources?
