Unintended (Or Perhaps Intended) Consequence of Liberal Feminism

Equal pay for equal work is something I think we can all get behind. But feminism, at least on the liberal side of the equation, has come to mean that sexual equality is more important than nurturing as a mother. Originally trying to get men to not think of women as sex objects, today’s liberal feminist is doing precisely that.

Come now, you know that finding one supposed feminist that would choose “sexy boobs” over “nurturing breastfeeding” does not a feminist ideal make?
Feminists have (typically) ALWAYS been supportive of breastfeeding, you realize that, right?

This is really just the latest symptom of a liberal feminism that is obsessed with sexuality, almost to the point, as in this case, of pushing out far more noble goals. When the NOW gang raises more of a ruckus over an empowered woman getting the nod for Vice Presidential nominee and less on TV shows that demean women, it’s not hard to see how this is simply the latest location on the slippery slope.
The abortion issue has certainly contributed to this, with 1.4 million abortions every year turning women into sex objects. While for most that consequence is unintentional, it still has that effect, and now we’re just seeing it vocalized by the editor of a major parenting (and specifically, mothering) magazine. And even the slightest push back from the pro-life community isn’t enough; a feminist blog with a staff of a dozen smiles approvingly at the defacement of a rather mild pro-life ad, which suggests that abortion can help you fulfill your dreams. Gloria Steinem doesn’t think you can be a real feminist and be pro-life.
So this isn’t something new; the pro-abortion feminists have, whether they intended it or not, brought us to this point. But it is a result of their actions by making sex consequence-free.
