You Cry Out

The Palen-Biden debate is now behind us. Early polls seem to show that Sarah seems to be the winner, if such a thing can be determined. On Fox News Channel, Frank Lunz’s focus group (undecideds who voted 50% Bush and 50% Kerry in the last election) overwhemingly thought Palin did a better job, and 3 out of 4 who decided their vote tonight said they’d vote McCain/Palin.
Let’s hear your thoughts. Did Biden have a better command of the issues? Did Palen’s informality bring you in or turn you off? You cry out.

Early polls seem to show that Sarah seems to be the winner…
?
The show I watched last night with George Stephanopolous (featuring two Republicans and one Democrat) all agreed that Biden was the clear winner. The polls and analysis this morning suggest Biden won.
I thought Palin did excellent insofar as she didn’t give any really bone-headed rambling non-answers like she did earlier in the week and she appeared likable and folksy. She did not live down to our worst expectations and so she successfully showed up and didn’t fall apart. Good for her.
But showing up and not messing up is not the same as “winning.” (If, as you ask, “winning” is even the appropriate word).
I had not liked Biden much up to this point, but I thought he performed admirably.
By “early polls”, I’m referring to Lunz’s group where something like 10% of the undecided folks made up their minds that night and went 3:1 to McCain. It was right after the debate, so today’s polls may be more accurate after folks have time to digest things.
By “focus group” – does that mean it wasn’t an actual poll, but just a bunch of undecideds that this Luntz guy pulled together?
Here’s the CBS poll, which also gives it to Biden. That seems to be the consensus this morning. And I think fairly so.
I went in to the night expecting it to be sort of an evening of comedy – sort of a preview of Tina Fey on SNL this Saturday. In that, I was disappointed. Palin did real well doing what she did. I just thought Biden so much better (and I went into this not being a fan of his).
