Yet another hotel.
- Some theology.
- Some things the police has for which they have no reasonable need.
- Some history if you follow the linked link.
- Well, TR said (I think) “walk softly and carry a big stick.” Our knucklehead in chief has a variant of that phrase, which alas, is stickless.
- More here.
- Some jokes all with the same punch line.
- Crime and punishment.
- Global warming.
- Cool. (probably literally as well)
- Nature’s beauty (and the beast).

Watts claims no warming for 17 years?
Is he blind?
We’ve had roughly 19 of the 20 warmest years in history in that period, the warmest decade in history and perhaps the warmest decade in more than 50,000 years — perhaps 500,000 years — with NO month even AT the 20th century average temperature.
In other words. by Watts’s count, 215 consecutive months well above the average temperatures of the past 10,0000 years, with increasing heat around the globe and increasing damage from the warming — but Watts is blind to it, and he hopes you will be, too.
Who finances such propaganda? “The Earth always warms. Droughts that decimate U.S. agriculture have always been the case. We have always been at war with Oceania.”
You don’t say. You fell for it?
My 27-year old son has never lived in a single month as cool as I experienced in the 1960s. Watts must have no children to worry about.
What about you?
Mr Darrell,
Logic escapes you it seems. Let’s see.
The linked piece makes two claims, that global tropospheric annual temperature averages for the last 19 years have been flat *and* that all of the climate models predicting global warming do not predict a “pause” in warming.
You counter that with “the last 19 years are 20 of the warmest in history” and that your 27 y/old son has never lived in a month as cool as what you experienced in the 60s.
The first is irrelevant as it actually even if true would not actually counter the claim of a pause in warming.
The second part, regarding your son “My 27-year old son has never lived in a single month as cool as I experienced in the 1960” is easily shown to be false. I believe you live in Texas. I don’t know where. So I picked a city. A guy work grew up near Austin. How’s Austin for a random Texas city? I googled for Austin’s annual and monthly temps. Pick a month (January) … warmest average temps in the 60s was 53.6. For your claim to be true there would be no months since 1987 there with an average Jan temp below 53.6 … not counting this year (which was also likely to be colder) 14 Januaries have been colder than in the years 1969 and 1965. Furthermore, the warmest (in the 60s) annual average was 69.3. Eight years since 1987 (again the data does not include 2014 but as you recall the winter in North America was quite cold) have been colder than 1964. So it seems you are just plain wrong.
I do have children, but I’m unclear about what we should be worrying about?
You on the other hand, should worry about your memory? Perhaps it’s just confirmation bias and not loss of memory (although the logic fail is not a confirmation bias thing).
