Which is Problematic?

Mrs Palin’s $150k wardrobe (a reasonable explanation here btw) or Mr Obama’s $150k faux-Greek stage setting for his acceptance speech? Both? Neither?
Update: Actuallly, the $150k for the stage was low. Apparently of the $14 million spent on the Denver stadium acceptance speech event $4.3 million was for lighting and stage settings. It is unclear how much went in to the actual stage setting.

They’re both a bit much, but the Obama pillars were far worse. At least Palin can wear those dresses again. Also, if she wore Wal-Mart clothes, the media would deride her as a “hick.” She can’t win. Danged if you do…
The problem here isn’t the relative worth of the columns, it is that some Republican donors are the ones seriously complaining.
The Democrats feel their money was well spent on the neo-classical back drop at the convention (which, of course, Pres. Bush had one in 2004, but i digress).
Politico reports
“As a Republican Eagle and a maxed-out contributor to McCain’s general campaign, I’d like my money back – he can still have my vote,” complained one irate donor on Tuesday.
This is not a good time to annoy the cash cows of the party.
For sure it requires perfectly fitted, constructed jackets, with a serious shoulder line, in good quality fabrics. Nowhere are those cheap. Palin had to look at least as good as the women we see on TV all the time.
It “requires”? Palin had to look as good as the women we see on TV?
Says who?
I don’t care what the RNC or DNC spend their money on. I wouldn’t choose (you couldn’t force me to choose) clothes that cost more than what you get at Target (I tend to get my clothes from the thrift store) nor would I have chosen to spend all that on a backdrop. But no one asked me.
So, no, I don’t really care, although I would find it impressive if someone claiming to represent Joe Sixpack (Dem or GOP) would actually buy clothes like Joe Sixpack.
But perhaps that’s just me.
