- Some shock-jock gets excoriated for “nappy haired” remarks, but gang rape of a candidate … no noise at all. Double standards anyone?
- Snore away.
- Trying to come to grips with the hatred on the left for Mrs Palin, I don’t get it either.
- I don’t know what to think of that.
- A problem with increasing the budgetary dependence “on the wealthy”, their income is more volatile … that is it is far more tightly coupled to the health of the economy.
- Mr Obama’s relationship with Freddie and Fannie.

On the “hate Palin” thing, I suspect it is much like the Bush Derangement Syndrome: More a thing of the Right’s imagination (based on some kernel of a fringe few) rather than any real thoughts.
I know of no one who “hates” Palin or Bush. We do hate Bush policy, but that’s to be expected if we think Bush policy is wrong.
We do think Palin’s probably out of her league and have serious concerns about her reasoning and positions, but that’s not hatred.
The author in that article said:
I asked her why they hate Palin so much. She said, ‘Because she’s had it all: family, career. And she did it without a man like Bill Clinton helping her. She did it on her own.’”
And I have to say that, quite frankly, that sounds entirely fictional. “I have a feminist friend who hates Palin because she did it on her own…” ? That does not make no sense.
There’s a difference between disagreeing with a candidate, distrusting a politician, and hating them.
And yes, sure, there are some out there who use “hate” language in their rants. There were some who did that with Clinton and some who’ve done it with Bush and with Palin, now. That does not mean that such represents the mainstream of opposition.
